The minor skirmish is noteworthy because it comes so soon after Emanuel, the former Clinton White House staffer and current senior Democratic Congressman, finally signaled his support for Barack Obama. Emanuel had spent the entire campaign being pulled back and forth by his double-loyalties to both candidates but is now in an unusually well-placed envoy to unite the party. With him defending Hillary in response to the suggestion that she couldn't be Obama's vice presidential nominee, it is tempting to wonder if a joint ticket is not the ideal situation for Emanuel at least, and perhaps even some of his old friends in the Clinton campaign
